This soundtrack isn't the most creative you'll come across, but I encountered it at a good time in life. Most every song except for "Highway Star" and "Paranoid" were fairly new to me. Even today, a lot of the tracks remain the sole representation of their respective bands/artists. In fact only War (sort of), Lynyrd Skynyrd, Deep Purple, and Black Sabbath appear anywhere else in my library, although I've got some pre-solo stuff by Alice Cooper and Ted Nugent, and some band members in these groups went elsewhere later in their careers, notably Tommy Aldridge from Black Oak Arkansas to Whitesnake.
Another about-as-creative compilation came out the following year, half of which doubled down on artists from the first compilation, plus half new appearances from folks like Steve Miller, Peter Frampton, Head East, and other suspects.
